Dermal fillers

Pre Treatment

  • Take arnica tablets 5 days before treatment to reduce bruising.

  • Stop any blood thinners (e.g. aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E) 7 days before treatment. Consult your doctor before stopping prescribed medication.

  • Stop any herbal supplements (garlic, vitamin E, Ginkgo Balboa, St Johns Wort and omega 3)7 days before treatment.

  • Avoid topical products such as Tretinoin (Retin-A), Retinols, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, AHA’s etc. 3 days before treatment.

  • Avoid facial laser and derma pen treatments for 2 weeks before and after treatment.

  • Avoid alcohol 24 hours before treatment and after.

  • Please attend your appointment without make up on the area that will be treated.

Post Treatment

  • Avoid wearing make up for 12 hours to reduce the risk of infection.

  • Avoid facial massages, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, laser, intense pulsed light or electrical stimulation of the face for the next 14 days.

  • Avoid wearing tight hats, caps in the area that has been injected.

  • Avoid alcohol and extreme UV heat such as sauna’s, sun beds, very hot showers and strenuous exercise for up to 48 hours.

  • Any bruising, redness, tenderness, unevenness, lumps and swelling is completely normal. Any of these can last up to 2 weeks. Bruising is usually visible initially, then more obvious the next day and can last up to 14 days.

  • The true results will be seen after 14 days so please be patient and trust the process. What you see in the up coming days will not be be your final result, your body needs time to heal.

  • Any injection can cause an inflammatory response. This can easily cause disappointment in the following few days as swelling subsides. The filler has not dissolved or disappeared. The initial swelling has subsided and the filler has sunken to form a layer at the base of your treatment area. Many clients can find that they need 2-3 sessions in order to layer the product on top of each other, until the filler has no more room to ‘sink’ leaving a fuller look.

  • To help with bruising and swelling arnica cream, cold compresses or antihistamine can be used.

IMPORTANT

Please contact us immediately if you have any symptoms of a blocked blood vessel. This is rare but if you develop increasing pain near or above the site of injection which gets worse over time, especially if associated with a pale area of skin, this could indicate reduced blood flow. You should contact us straight away as we may need to reverse your procedure to avoid scaring.
